We at Innospec fully support the aims and objectives of REACH, which are to ensure the enhancement of protection for consumers and the environment, without loss of competitiveness for industry. REACH entered into force in July 2007, and, as with all other laws, Innospec will comply with its terms and conditions.
It is our intention to pre-register by 1 Dec 2008 all substances that we manufacture and import and to work with our suppliers to ensure they pre-register all materials supplied to Innospec. We have a dedicated and knowledgeable REACH team covering all parts of our business ready to answer your questions either as Innospec supplier or customer.
Support from our Customers
Part of the registration process within REACH will involve the
notification of all downstream uses of the product, along with
exposure scenarios to highlight where both humans and the
environment may be exposed to the product, and how the risks are
managed.
We seek the support of our customers to ensure that we have a full understanding of all the relevant downstream uses, which is critical, because a product can only be registered and used under REACH for specified downstream uses.
We understand that you will seek assurances from Innospec that we will register all of our products.
The first phase of registration will only be completed in June 2010 (or much later if the product is lower volume), there should be no need to address continuity of supply at this stage unless you are considering committing to the use of our product beyond 2010. In the event that this is the case, please contact us, so that we can be more specific about the product in question.
Support from Suppliers
We are now working closely with all of our suppliers to
ensure that they have a thorough understanding of their role in
REACH, and ensure that they also pre-register all of the products
that they sell to us. If and when we discover any issues relating
to this, we will take steps now to ensure continuity or replacement
of supply.
Equally, we will be making suppliers aware that they need to register our applications as downstream uses, and that we are willing and able to help them develop the necessary exposure scenarios.
We at Innospec are committed to working with our customers, our suppliers, and with the regulators, to ensure that the legal obligations of REACH are met, with the minimum disruption to the business, but, in the meantime, please do not hesitate to contact us if we can be of further assistance using the link on the right.
