Our customers in Europe, Middle East and Africa can benefit from a complete range of additives for marine bunker and diesel fuels including Pre-Combustion, Combustion and Post-Combustion additives, as well as a variety of miscellaneous products that can meet other specific needs of the shipping company.

Our highly successful additive range includes dispersants, stabilizers, combustion catalysts and ash modifiers and inhibitors.

Pre-Combustion Additives
Our pre-combustion additives were specially developed for residual fuel stabilization where asphaltene agglomeration results in sludge formation in the tanks and fuels system. Our dispersant/stabilizer products allow the blending of heavy and light components as well as the mixing of fuels that may become unstable when blended.

The dispersant/stabilizer components in our pre-combustion additives keep bunker tanks, filters, strainers and fuel heaters clean. This means less maintenance and less downtime. Completely homogenous fuels help reduce the separator workload and improve fuel injection, atomization and combustion efficiency.

Our dispersant/stabilizer products are available as pure ashless additives or in combination with a combustion catalyst. The combined treatment will keep the fuel system clean and improve fuel combustion to reduce unburned carbon (soot) emissions. This also keeps the exhaust system components clean.

Combustion Additives
Our combustion additives ensure a more complete burnout of carbon and hydrocarbon and reduce the build-up of deposits. This results in a cleaner engine, turbocharger and exhaust gas boiler. This in turn cuts down on engine maintenance and increases the time between overhauls. Field tests confirm that our products significantly reduce the risk of gas boiler soot fires.

Our combustion additives could be used for all kinds of marine fuels. We offer a highly concentrated and a diluted liquid combustion additive as well as a very effective solid combustion catalyst.

We also offer a metal-free organic fuel oil combustion additive that should be continuously dosed into all fuels burned onboard ships. Continuous use of this product results in better fuel atomization, reduced exhaust temperatures, reduced wear of piston rings and cylinder liners and reduced smoke and emissions.

Ash Modifiers
Our ash modifiers are combinations of an ash inhibitor and a combustion catalyst. They deliver a unique blend of organo-metallic compounds to promote the rapid oxidation of fuel for more efficient combustion.

Our ash inhibitors ensure exhaust valves and super heater tubes remain free from hard ash deposits by raising the melting point of the ash compounds so it is higher than the exhaust valve and superheater surface temperatures. The combustion catalyst improves combustion in both boilers and diesel engines.

Our Marine Specialties team also supplies additives to solve specific 'non-combustion' problems at sea. For example we have supplied:

  • Additives for 2-stroke engine cylinder lubrication oil to stop piston-rings sticking in the ring grooves - a problem caused by lube carbonization
  • Premium lubricants that blend with all petroleum based oils and fluids to improve their efficiency and extend their operating life
  • Concentrated oil based emulsion breakers to resolve high solid and water content slop oil emulsions
  • MDO additives to help improve combustion, fuel lubricity and stability
  • Broad spectrum micro-biocides for distillate fuels, which destroy aerobic and anaerobic bacteria
  • Efficient oil spill removers to use in case of pollution in harbours and at sea
