Our Refinery Specialties team in Europe, Middle East and Africa has developed an unparalleled range of technologies and products for our customers. We are helping to create fuels that can make the most of modern engine technology while responding to the needs of the environment. Our Refinery Specialties team in Europe, Middle East and Africa work closely with the refiner to find a solution that works best for their business.

Our products are designed to overcome many of the problems faced by refineries in the day-to-day processing and handling of fuel.

Our range of antioxidants, fuel stabilizers, dispersants and metal deactivators are designed to meet the needs of today's fuels and tackle stability issues.

Safety must always be the top priority in the pumping and handling of fuels. Our conductivity improvers prevent the build up of electrostatic charge, minimising the risk of fire and explosion. Our products are renowned worldwide. We sell the only static dissipator additive internationally approved for use in aviation fuels.

Our products also provide refiners with the flexibility to meet ever-changing fuel specifications. By using Innospec cetane number improvers, refiners can produce diesel fuels that deliver better engine performance and lower levels of regulated exhaust emissions.

Many of our additives have been developed in response to changing market conditions. Our biodegradable low toxicity octane improver is a good example of an innovative and environmentally friendly solution for octane deficient fuels. It gives refiners the option to regain octane while ensuring the fuel remains compatible with today's increasingly demanding engines and exhaust emission systems.

Similarly, as environmental, regulatory and marketing pressures continue to drive down the sulphur content of diesel fuels, we have developed the widest range of lubricity improvers in the market to meet all possible requirements from our customers.

Cold flow improvers also form an essential part of our diesel fuel additives portfolio. Through laboratory evaluation and precise matching of product components to fuel type, these products optimise the low temperature performance of fuels as cost-effectively as possible.

Wherever fuel is stored or distributed, there is a risk of corrosion caused by the traces of water picked up by the fuel during processing and storage. We market a range of corrosion inhibitors to combat such problems in pipelines, tankfarms and terminals.

Blending of ethanol into gasoline can promote water uptake creating an acidic, corrosive environment. We supply specialised products to combat this problem.

We supply a wide variety of dyes and markers to give market differentiation, supplier identification or as fiscal markers for tax purposes. Whatever the requirement, we work closely with our customers to design and formulate dyes that meet their specific requirements.

Our range of distillate additives stabilises heating oils and diesel fuels by retarding the formation of gums, insoluble residues and colour bodies. Fuel oil additives act as either antioxidants that prevent fuel degradation or as dispersants to prevent sludge-forming residues. Optimised fuel performance can be obtained by combining these products with our other functional Fuel Specialties additives.

We supply a de-icer to inhibit icing in aviation fuel systems in both military (MIL-PRF-5624 and 83133) and commercial (ASTM D1655) jet fuels.

Metal deactivators help stabilise fuels when naturally-occurring acidic compounds catalyse undesirable reactions with certain metals during distribution, storage and usage. Our products are used to improve storage and colour stability of petroleum distillates containing dissolved copper. This is particularly useful in jet fuel to improve JFTOT performance.

Our Cetane Improvers increase the ignition quality of distillate stocks and are considered a direct means of upgrading diesel fuels. These compounds readily decompose to generate free radicals, which enhance the initiation of combustion.

Our additives are used in diesel fuels to raise the cetane number. We also sell an advanced cetane number improver that improves cetane quality of distillate stocks and imparts thermal stability to diesel fuels. Some fuels undergo thermal stability degradation when exposed to high concentrations of 2-EHN loading. One of our additives contains a proprietary fuel stabiliser, which restores thermal stability. Another additive is used to raise the cetane number in diesel fuels without increasing nitrogen content.
